Adam Adolph, Dismas Resident, Speaks in Support of Dismas

Adam wears a black baseball cap and a white t-shirt with a nametag, he is standing at a microphone and reading from a speech in his hands.

Hi, my name is Adam Adolph I am 34 years old. I grew up local in South Royalton I had a pretty good upbringing. I grew up on a farm with a good family. I enjoy fishing, hunting, going swimming, and pretty much anything to do with the outdoors.

I became addicted to painkillers at the age of 23, and it pretty much went downhill slowly from there. Over the years I started to decline a little every year. Until I ended up in prison in NH and VT. I have 2 daughters named Addison and Avery and they mean the world to me. Since being out of prison I have been able to reconnect with them thanks to the help of Dismas. I have been able to see my daughters go to the first day of 2nd grade and the first day of kindergarten. Without Dismas giving me this chance I would have never been able to see their first days of school if I was still inside southern state prison. So I am very grateful for this opportunity.

I would like to thank all the staff at Dismas for giving me the opportunity to be able to get out and be a part of the community again. Without Dismas I would undoubtedly still be incarcerated.

Since I have been out Gale, Tom, and Wendy have been nothing but amazing to me since my release. They are there whenever I need support or have a question on what I should do next. They have helped me reconnect with my daughters. I now see them on a regular basis. I am very grateful for that. They have helped me find work, develop a healthy daily routine and get my life back to where it was a long time ago.

Without Dismas I wouldn’t be where I am today. I thank all the staff, guys in the house for making me feel welcomed.  I would also like to thank the volunteers who bring in dinner. It’s nice to know there are people out there who support us and want to see us succeed. So I am very grateful for this opportunity and plan to make the best possible person I can out of myself. Thank you.
