My name is Katelyn and I have been at the Women's Dismas House since July 30th, 2024. I arrived with five months of sobriety after successfully completing extended treatment at Grace House. On February 18th, 2025, I celebrated one year of sobriety.
Coming to Dismas gave me the chance to stay in Rutland, where there is a great recovery community, a safe and sober home, and opportunities to strive for success. I have been volunteering at Turning Point as a peer support specialist since August and working on my goals to gain employment in the recovery field. I am currently enrolled at Walden University, working to finish my bachelor's degree.
In four weeks I will be graduating from Treat Court, something that I never thought was going to be possible when I entered the program. Dismas has really helped me grow as a person and incorporate sobriety into my daily living. Here I am able to live in a normal home environment while having my meetings and the stable sober supports close.
Dismas isn't just a home; it is a community, not just of the residents who live here but also of the staff and volunteers who come every day. Today, after one year of sobriety, I feel like a completely different person. I can proudly say that I am a hard worker, I have integrity, and I care not only about others but also about myself. I am beyond grateful to have been given the chance to reside at Dismas.
